For most of mannequin history (don’t worry, there won’t be a test), athletic poses have been basic sports stances – quarterback passing, tennis player swinging a racket, maybe a baseball player in the batter’s box. The North Face customer has a different need for their outdoor activities, however, and the company came to us to help them craft forms that would reflect those interests: hiking, distance running, mountain climbing, sub-zero camping, yoga, cross-country skiing. The North Face also requested different finishes for the male, female, and child mannequins in order to subtly communicate the differences in the style and fit of the clothes.
